ICPC begins probe of alleged UTME malpractice

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced investigation into alleged malpractices during this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the country.

Earlier, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had said it arrested over 100 examination fraudsters who sat for the UTME for prospective candidates for a fee.

A board member of the ICPC, Mrs. Olubukola Balogun, who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday, said the commission was investigating the alleged malpractice by applicants who were allegedly aided by their parents and the impersonators.

She said the commission has put in place measures to investigate the matter, adding: “We have the mandate for investigation, prosecution and prevention. We are putting everything together for JAMB. I can assure you we will get there.

“The commission will unravel what happened and how we can prevent a future occurrence.”
